A Firearm Is . . .
A firearm is only an instrument. It contains no evil, no conscience, and no ability. It is strictly the intent, competence, and character of its user that decides the outcome of any and all actions taken with it.

2008 Indoor Prone Rifle Sectional
Smallbore RifleLarry has received word from Chuck Meyer regarding our 2008 Indoor Prone Sectional. It will be held the next three Friday nights March 28th, April 4th, and April 11th . You can shoot any-sight, irons or both, $5.00 per entry.

Spread the word and come on out. Dust off your prone rifles and join us for some fun. The targets used will be the USA 50 foot smallbore rifle target. These are a humbling target to shoot on but make for some interesting results.

2007 N.Y. Empire State Games
Club NewsThe 2007 Empire State Games Shooting events produced some of the greatest results ever for Long Island Smallbore and Air Rifle shooters. Valley Stream's Blake McCauley and Roslyn Club's Pete Olensky coached the competitors from the Long Island region. Their expertise really paid off this year as can be seen by the outstanding finishes posted by the competitors. Pete and Blake’s coaching skills and dedication to our Long Island shooters is just amazing and should be commended.

A Tight Line
Smallbore RifleOn Saturday June 23, 2007 the Roslyn Club held an NRA 800 Metric Prone Iron Sights only match. Who would have thought we would have had such a great turn out for an Iron sights only match.

Sixteen shooters completed the 80 shot course at 50 yards and 100 yards. The new guy Bryan W. took first place with a 755 10x Larry P. took 2nd place with 750 13x, and Pete O. took 3rd place with 741 9x.

We had ONE OF THOSE DAYS on our Roslyn range with the wind changing direction after every shot, and the scores reflect that fact. Thanks to Bart L. we have some great pictures to share in the PHOTO GALLERY. Here is just one picture that I think should be titled "A tight Line" (check the club calendar and join us for a match)

Target Frames for Rifle Range
FacilitesAs a safety precaution we have shortened the target frames from 72 inches to 64 inches. This will keep the ricochets down and also prevent damage to the berms.

If you have a personal frame that is over 64" please cut it down.

Thanks for your help with this, Kevin

Do Not Drive out on the Rifle Range
FacilitesPlease do not drive out on the Rilfle range at the Calverton Facility. The berms have been repaired and the ground out on the range is very soft. If you take your car out there you will get stuck.
